Given the prevalence of technology and flow of information, it is not surprising that control over privacy has been lost. Companies and websites are constantly exchanging their users' information. A number of private information scandals, such as by Equifax and Facebook, have demonstrated that many companies will do as they please with regards to our information. I believe our privacy laws need to be updated to reflect this rapidly changing issue. We should establish very strict privacy laws as it relates to personal information, online or offline, so that Canadians are able to control what information is collected and distributed.
